One of my weaknesses is old Bulova watches. Some of the designs in the 1920s and 1930s just look to interesting compared to the cookie cutter modern watches.
From 1936, the Bulova “President” came out with a model showing wandering seconds. It contains a 21 Jewel movement and keeps accurate time. Kind of harder to find with the wandering seconds style (given the price during the height of the depression era). I love the deco style edging on the bezel. Just a bit of wear showing on the back of the case edges (showing in the copper green points). I’ve been slowly trying to get the crystal scratches buffed out but it’s a slow process by hand.
The first picture shows a handmade strap and no work on the glass crystal. The second picture shows some of the most difficult scratches reduced and a new leather strap. One of the pitfalls of collecting old men’s watches of the era is the need to purchase 14mm straps which are cut for a smaller ladies wrist. So, purchase at least an XL size if you have a regular man’s wrist size.
The case shows the 10K rolled gold which is typical 10-14k RG for nicer watches of the era by Bulova.
